The Forgotten Beasts of Eld, by Patricia A. McKillip, copyright 1974; ISBN 0-425-06595-2.
This was the first book by Patricia A. McKillip that I remember reading, I think, and though it was The Riddlemaster of Hed that really confirmed McKillip as my favorite author at the time, this book certainly contributed to my liking. I find McKillip's writing lyrical and her settings evocative.

My Life as a White Trash Zombie, by Diana Rowland, copyright 2011; DAW Book Collectors No. 1554; ISBN 978-0-7564-0675-2.
Despite the appalling title, and a cover appallingly appropriate to the title, this was a good enough book for me to go looking for some of Diana Rowland's other books. The main character is Angel Crawford.
